Tree Frog

Tree Frog

Meet one of the inhabitants on my garden. This is a gray tree frog.

Despite the name, gray tree frogs aren't always gray. Like chameleons, they change color to blend in with the background.

Tree frogs have large toe pads that produce a sticky substance that gives them a Spiderman-like ability to climb trees and scale walls. Sometimes on a summer night, I'll look out and see a tree frog clinging to one of my windows.

To give you an idea of its size: the pipe that this little critter is climbing is a half inch in diameter.

Tree frogs dine on various insects. They are shy, but good friends in your garden.

Gray Tree Frog

In the summer months, male tree frogs serenade the ladies to attract a mate. A couple of years ago, night after night, a little fellow parked himself on the ledge outside my bathroom window for his evening concerts. You would be amazed how loud a song can be sung by one tiny tree frog!
